The client is a domestic energy delivery company that includes electric transmission & distribution, natural gas distribution and energy services operations. The company serves more than 5 million metered customers, primarily in Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. The company also owns, operates and develops natural gas and crude oil infrastructure assets in partnership with other companies. With more than 8,500 employees, company and its predecessor companies have been in business for more than 140 years.

Business Challenge:

The client’s Smart Meter Data Management (MDM) system and Transaction Management Hub’s (TMH) data was growing exponentially, increasing storage costs and keeping them from meeting service-level agreements (SLAs). Capacity upgrades were providing relief, but only temporarily. Staying within budget while speeding up the deployment of new applications, upgrades and enhancements was proving to be a significant challenge.

While historical data was not relevant to day-to-day operations, they still needed the data for management reporting or compliance. Therefore, they needed a solution that automatically segregated historical transactions and safely moved them to a secure archive.
