Application data within the Gap’s Oracle Retail Suite was growing at a rapid clip, creating production instances in the half-terabyte range. Bigger instances required more DBA administration, and made it hard to maintain for updates, patches and upgrades. Moreover, it was a challenge to adhere to corporate data retention policies.
